The curse of Dusit Devarana strikes again.
Once you enter this picture perfect luxury resort and get mesmerized by the water bodies and new age architecture, your sense of anticipation about what to expect with regards to the food is increased.
Furthermore when the server informs you that this restaurant is inspired by Kai Mayfair (Michelin Star) and that the chef has worked there, you expect the culinary journey ahead of you to be great.
Unfortunately Chi Ni (meaning To Eat) did not impress me. Don’t get me wrong, the service here was top notch, the interiors were beautifully done up. But the presentation & standard of food does not justify the rates being charged.
We started with the Aromatic Crispy Duck which tasted bad, the Wasabi Mushrooms were well prepared and the Blanched Baby Spinach with sesame dressing had nice flavours & was very tasty.
The mains consisted of Baked Chilean Sea Bass and Braised Bean-curd, eggplant Szechuan style. Both were well prepared.
The two desserts we ordered were Senses of Chocolate & Apple Ice Cream Sandwich.
Both desserts tasted nice.
Overall the food was good but none of the dishes stood out and would compel me to go back here again.
The rates are high, a meal for two will cost you about 12000₹ without alcohol.
Extra marks for the beautiful ambience and for the efficient & personalised service.
The problem is that if they are going to charge the same if not more than other fine dine establishments like say Tian or Megu or Indian Accent, then the food should also be of a much higher level.
